The World is Not for Israel to Rule

We are on the temple courts during Jesus' last week. The Parable of the Evil Vine-Growers is perhaps the most scathing indictment that Jesus has ever given confronting the religious elite head on. No stone is left unturned (pun intended).

It should be no secret that we use AI in our Bible study with strict guardrails to only use scripture and not external interpretations or commentary. That is what we have commonly referred to as our Berean Filter. We let the Bible speak for itself and we use AI to help flush out the meaning. So, I know the title is provocative but we're not casting any judgements here that Jesus hasn't already cast.

When you unpack this parable, the entire Old Testament opens up before you. It is amazing how compact Jesus can be with a parable considering how much it represents. I think part of the reason Christ speaks in parables is not to confuse but to encompass huge landscapes of scripture.

I want to say this to those who use AI as a study tool. Don't imagine that AI will always make the connections for you. When you read a parable like this, home in on every detail and ask your AI chat bots to flush out the connections. AI won't necessarily connect the dots in the first place. Knowing your Bible before you venture into this kind of study helps because you can say to AI: "What about this?" or "Connect the meaning of the stone to the rock in David's hand." Without being prompted, it might not consider that connection. Let your curiosity drive the AI tools. AI is part of the engine but you're still navigating (with all deference to Elon Musk's self-driving vehicle - I still want to drive) and you're giving the vehicle the fuel to go. Never forget that AI is human driven, and humans are God powered. Put AI in its place in the hierarchy... and don't be afraid of AI.

But I digress... Most of the time we post the notes to our studies. Not everything is covered in the podcast. But I think the best way to pursue studying the Bible is first to read it, sit with it, digest it, think about it, pray about it. That's our nightly ritual. In the morning, we hop on our Berean Filter and insert what landed on our brain and in our heart from the reading the night before.

Back to the Parable of the Evil Vine Growers and why this incited the religious leaders so vehemently.
