Alive --> Dead --> Alive | My Bible is Off!

I think we have covered The Prodigal pretty well both in context and doctrine. There is one last thing that shines a light worthy of our attention. The KJV of the last line: It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

AGAIN?

If I read that literally, at some point in his past, the brother was alive, then died and then alive again. The only way I can interpret that given the doctrine that we've uncovered about regeneration, is the original Adam; Adam sinned. That’s the alive and died part. Then the brother, born in sin, became alive again. The Bible never shows a person, once alive (Elected, Saved, Repentant), dies at some point (Apostacy) and then comes back to life again (Elected, Saved, Repentant). I think that is asking too much of the reader. It definitely had me squirming.

So, this is worth a quick study and we leaned on our Berean strategies to determine the best approach to this.
