The Temple is the Key - Wrestling with a Berean

Today's podcast was supposed to be easy. Discuss what Jesus calls the Birth pangs. But then I got into with the Berean filter. I was going to scrap this whole session. Instead, I decided, you know what, this is instructive. For those that think we go on an AI Chatbot, ask a question and post the answer, this is for you. This is like what it must have been like in a room with the Bereans who were insisting on their interpretative reasoning. The bottom line is not that we don't trust our own Berean filter tools but we engage with text whether it is AI driven, commentary driven, pastor driven or YouTube driven. The only one that you should listen to is the actual text, because only that is Spirit driven.

So I posted in the notes a 3-hour discussion, unredacted for transparency's sake. Today we're talking about the discussions and the conclusions to that discussion. We're in Matthew 24 - a contentious subject in any case to all of those trying to understand end times theology.

Why did I fight so hard to define the temple? Because I do not believe a new temple is required for end times. If you're listening to the end times gurus, the almost universal consensus is that the temple in Jerusalem has to be rebuilt. I take the position (and nothing has changed my mind - but the Berean filter tried really hard) that there is no requirement to build a new temple in Jerusalem to complete the end times story. Frankly, I think it is a red herring and a distraction.
