The Science of God's Economy

Ok, I'll apologize ahead of time for this one. They called me vector-head (or just vector) in my college days, and I admit I haven't changed much. I don't practice engineering anymore, but you can't take the engineer out of the boy. This podcast won't appeal to all, but it hits a home run for this vector headed guy that likes to map reality onto the cosmos. I did the best I could with my limited recall of the laws of thermodynamics.

Everything runs down. Coffee cools, buildings crumble, stars burn out, and bodies age. Physicists call this tendency entropy, and they have written it into one of the most secure laws in all of science. Scripture has its own vocabulary for the same experience: futility, corruption, dust, and darkness. It also has an explanation for why the world is this way, and a promise that it will not stay this way.

The parallel is not a coincidence. Paul says that God's "invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made" (Romans 1:20). "The heavens declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1). The physical laws and the moral law come from the same Lawgiver. It would be surprising if they did not rhyme. Conservation, decay, and the need for an outside source of order do not prove the gospel, but they echo the character of the one who made both the world and the law.
