The Rich Fool

We're still following Jesus in our Red-Letter journey and Jesus is telling a crowd of followers: warning about hypocrisy, fearing God, confessing Christ and relying on the Holy Spirit and this guy speaks up and suggests to Jesus that He should tell his brother to share his money and inheritance with him. It's almost comical that he doesn't comprehend what Jesus has been saying. Sometimes we read this stuff that is just so obvious... until you start to look at your own heart. Then your smile fades. You bow your head and ask for His forgiveness.
Many treat Christ as a means to earthly gain rather than eternal salvation (cf. John 6:26–27, where people followed Jesus for bread). Question: Do I come to Christ for who He is—or only for what I want Him to fix in this life?
