The Jewish Indictments - The Final Woes
As we are studying the final woes, what is becoming clear is how much modern eschatological teaching has steered our understanding and worse has influenced wrong thinking! We are almost at the cross and Jesus is issuing indictments and verdicts. He is dealing with Israel here! The temple system is about to be gone, done away with! For those of you who think it must be rebuilt, I think you should revisit what is going on here. Israel can rebuild the temple if they want but it will be nothing but an empty shell. God will not return there.
We, particularly in the West, have been spoon-fed dispensational theology. The other day, as we were walking through the history of the Jews after AD 70, we were somewhat taken aback when our Berean Filter (which is unencumbered by interpretative literature and only uses scripture to interpret scripture) emphatically stated that Israel was not the center of end-times. We podcasted about that last time.
With that back-drop, and now somewhat relieved from the burden of keeping Israel in focus as the interpretive linchpin, we have broken free of that, and we are starting to see with a lot more clarity the transition from Israel to the Church.
