Something Happened on the Way to the Tomb
The resurrection of Lazarus itself is almost anticlimactic in the scope of what's presented. So we slow down dramatically and focus here on the interaction of Jesus with Martha and Mary. Within this context we see one of the rawest expressions of emotion we see from Jesus anywhere in the Gospels (and also the shortest sentence in the Bible: Jesus wept.)
By slowing down, we were able to determine not only the difference and character and response of Martha and Mary, and we took the time to understand the difference between what Martha was hearing and what Jesus was saying.
One point beyond the source that Lazarus' and Paul's silence teach is to not put your trust in stories of life after death. Some of these become YouTube sensations but scripture avoids this. So, if you do hear about one of these stories, the listener needs to understand that the messages they bring back from the grave about expectations are not to be taken as credible testimony and certainly not as doctrine.
