Raising Lazarus - Conquering Death

Today we close the chapter on the resurrection of Lazarus. This chapter leaves no room for ambiguity with respect to who Jesus is. In all of scripture there is only one the commands death. We've seen resurrection elsewhere in the Bible, but never like this.

We gained some deeper insight into the local politics beyond the Pharisees, and I think it's the time in our Red-Letter journey that we've encountered Caiaphas - the Jewish High Priest.

Anyway, this is a rich chapter, and we walk through this section slowly. In the process, we followed some very interesting rabbit holes. The connection to Daniel was especially interesting and a couple of different levels. If our interpretation of Daniel had followed the common interpretation (Daniel 9:24-27), we would have missed the connection entirely. Further, this illustrated for us what happens when you read the Bible incorrectly. A false interpretation can cascade to false beliefs.

Regarding Daniel: We don't know if you'll agree with our interpretation. It has taken us months to overcome the prevailing interpretation that anchors most of the online religious community to how they see the last days playing out. But if you stick to the text, the interpretation is much more coherent with the context and supports better what we just read in John Chapter 11. Welcome to a Rabbit Hole you might want to explore on your own - we highly encourage it. We do plan a future podcast just to cover Daniel in the hopes of clearing up any confusion.
