In the Midst of Wolves
As we continue following Jesus' words chronologically, we are about halfway through his ministry. Jesus says: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” That prayer asked and answered launches the first mission of the disciples. We find accounts in Matthew, Mark and Luke.
To make it real, we have imagined what it might be like in the day of a disciple pair on this mission journey. In fact, we imagined 3 different days with different degrees of success. We want to help people understand the nature of the mission, the task at hand and how the disciples might have handled the instructions given to them by Jesus. We are not trying to rewrite the Gospel! This is merely a way to maybe dramatize, in text form, what a day might have been like and to help understand what they might have had to deal with on a daily basis.
